If there’s one thing I’ve learned as an Affiliate marketer – it’s that it is not meant for the weak. Affiliate marketing is the most frustrating thing I’ve ever done. I know I’ve said this before but the ups and downs that I’ve endured as an affiliate are at times heart-wrenching. This is the only business that I know of where you can go from making several thousand dollars a day to nothing, literally overnight. An offer can get pulled or redirected, your traffic source(s) can get stale, etc.

No matter what size affiliate that you are, you are going to have good days and you are going to have bad days. For the longest time I absolutely despised affiliate marketing because of this. My other online ventures, such as my professional wrestling website, are much more consistent. We have paid subscribers that are going to renew daily and ad rates at their worst are going to deliver at least some revenue. On the flip side of this, the upside is not near as big as there is a limit to our profits. In affiliate marketing there are no limits, but the problem is there are no limits either way.

There is no limit to what you can make and unfortunately there is no limit in what you can lose. You always have to be willing to invest money into any campaign, especially in the beginning. If you’re a Super Scared Affiliate, you’re never going to make it as an affiliate. I’m not sure if you can be overly aggressive, but if you try to go to war with a big-time affiliate for a particular spot you are probably going to lose because they have the financial backing to withstand a bigger loss.

Below are some tips that helps eliminate the dreaded bad days, and while you will still have them, hopefully these tips will make you have less:

* Make sure you are well-diversified. Get into several niches and try out several sources of traffic. Be careful not to test too much because you’ll end up chewing up all of your profit.

* Avoid getting greedy and test other campaigns while you have campaigns that are scaled and profitable. This is easier said than done but you’ll thank yourself when you’re profitable campaigns have run their course. You always need to be preparing for the next campaign.

* Try not to get complacent. It’s hard not to just chill for a day when things are going really well, but you need to at least be making plans for what you are going to do next.

* Realize you are going to fail, accept it and move on. There have been days where I’ve literally wanted to throw my computer out the window. Everyone has bad days. None of us want them but they are going to happen. Move on with your life.

* Do not rely on one type of offer. This goes back to being well diversified but one time when I was first starting out, my business was centered around zip submits. I burned it up but when the offer got pulled, I had to start all over. I should have been investing that profit into other niches so I had Plan B when Plan A failed.

These tips will help you cut down on bad days. Unfortunately you are still going to have bad days as long as you continue to have high profit days. Your definition of bad is also going to change the bigger you become. What I consider a bad day today would have been considered a great day two years ago. There is never enough money. I don’t care if you are making a billion dollars a day; you are always going to want more. We’re affiliates and that’s how we think.
